COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Certified Project Management Associate (CPMA) course aims to develop the client's knowledge and skills on project management, with the use of various tools and techniques on several processes.  The course focuses the waterfall framework that is based on initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing of projects.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

1. Read fully the course details.

2. Read and commit yourself to the Nievgen Code of Ethics.

3. Go to https://www.nievgen.com/ENROLL.html.

4. Fill up completely the course enrollment form.  Do not submit yet as you will have to pay the training fees.

5. Pay the training fee thru the indicated payment methods and accounts.

6. Write the transaction reference number in the form.

7. Click the SUBMIT BUTTON once.

8. Just to be sure, you may send your payment confirmation to registration@nievgen.com.

9. Add us at our social accounts.


CERTIFICATION PROCESS:

Phase 1: Attend the instructor led workshop, fully participate and submit in-class activity outputs.

Phase 2: Complete the post-class assignments, essays and take home examinations.

Phase 3: Nievgen Internal Assessment and Audit Activities (Assessors' full evaluation of the competency based on recorded evidences)

Milestone:  Awarding of "Certified Project Management Associate" credential.


IDEAL PARTICIPANTS:

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course, it is expected that the participants will be able to:

1. Understand what is a project, program and portfolio.

2. Understand what are the roles, function and responsibilities of the project sponsor, project manager, team members (project associates), client and client representatives, contractors and subcontractors.

3. Understand the processes and activities in initiating, planning, monitoring, controlling and closing of projects.

4. Create a draft of a project charter.

5. Create an outline of the project scope.

6. Understand Earned Value Management, calculate and report the project performance.

7. Understand schedule and cost evaluation, create a project monitoring sheet and determine the necessary actions to control costs.

8. Identify project activities, sequences and activity duration then create a project gantt chart based on a case that will be given to the candidate;

9. Learn to use a project management software;

10. Read, understand, sign and personally commit to the Nievgen Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for certified resources (requirement of certification).

11. Read and understand the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

12. Understand leadership theories and understand the factors that influences motivation.

13. Pass the MCQ based final examination and essay.

14. Be able to use the knowledge and skills obtained from the Nievgen class to help their companies, peers, subbordinates or to further advance their career and profession.


EXCLUSION

The NIEVGEN CPMA course is NOT AN EXAM PREP course that is qualified for any international project management certification exams.  For a more relevant course for international exams, please enroll the CERTIFIED PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST COURSE (CPMS).


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Answer and pass all homework/activities given by the instructor.

2. Actively participate in the class.

3. Full attendance to the sessions.

4. The candidate must commit to displaying good behaviors or conduct to the instructor and his peers.

5. Passing the MCQ final examination and the written essay.


TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:     

1. Online classes are delivered via ZOOM. Please install zoom.

Install GanttProject Software.

2. A laptop or desktop computer is required in the class.

3. For best training experience, you should have an extra viewing/extension monitor that you can connect and be placed adjacent to your laptop.

4. The participants must be computer-literate and must be able to use MS Excel.

5. All classes are recorded for learning, assessment and certification purposes.  In joining the class, you agree to be recorded by the Nievgen instructor.

6. The candidate shall TURN ON the CAMERA at all times.


ENROLLMENTS REQUIRE APPROVAL OF NIEVGEN

Nievgen has the right to reject course enrollments if it sees that the enrollment of an individual or of a company is invalid, detrimental and against to the overall interests and internal policies of the company, i.e. intellectual property infringement, the knowledge acquired from the company shall be used to start another training company, knowledge/skill will be used for illegal acts or when the enrollee individual/ company is a competitor or potentially will become a competitor or when the enrollee is deemed unqualified to take the course due to prerequisite or due to professional decisions of the enrollment assessors and/or the enrollee showed unprofessional behaviors.  All enrollments to Nievgen undergoes audit prior the start of the class and requires the APPROVAL of the company, similar to other knowledge and competency centers. Immediate refund will be made to individuals or entities who paid during registration, but is declared as ineligible for enrollment.


AWARD AND REVOCATION

The certification is awarded to the successful participants after successful training and assessments, but the certification remains a property of the Nievgen.  The certification shall and may be revoked if the participant failed to demonstrate decent or professional behaviors, as according to the Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics of Nievgen, after a complaint has been issued and and an investigation is completed by Nievgen.  Nievgen deserves the full right to revoke the certification after due consideration of facts.

A certification awarded by Nievgen, thru our competent trainors and assessors, means that you have completed the training and has been assessed to be COMPETENT in the required competencies of learning, as required by NIEVGEN. COMPETENCY INFORMATION

CPMA-01. Understand project governance.

Appreciate why management is important. Understand what are the differences of project, program, portfolio and operations.  Determine the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Directors, President and CEO, Project Management Office, project sponsor, project manager, assistant project manager (team manager), team members, stakeholders, project support, functional managers and suppliers on projects.  The waterfall framework's five process groups will be explained, i.e. initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and control.


CPMA-02. Initiate project.

Understand what leads to project initiation. Determine what is a feasibility analysis, business case and benefits plan. Understand what is a project charter and create one.  Determine what project managers do during stakeholder meetings during project

initiation.


CPMA-03. Develop a scope management plan.

Understand what is a scope.  In a project simulation, determine what are the inclusion, exclusion, assumptions and develop a work breakdown structure.  Understand what is a change control process and scope validation and why the two are important in scope monitoring and control.


CPMA-04. Develop a project schedule.

The participants will work on a sample project schedule and the facilitator shall explain the several criteria in ensuring a very comprehensive project schedule.  The candidates will also determine several project schedule values such as the activity list, predecessors, project duration, activity percentages, per week percentages, planned value, earned value, actual cost, schedule variance, SV%, cost variance, CV% and cost performance index. 


CPMA-05. Create Gantt Charts using Excel.

The participants will be give a project case to work on and they will develop the project schedule (individual output).  The objective is for the participants to think critically, identify the activities and create a plan that will satisfy the requirement of the assessors, based on the knowledge and criteria that were given to them.


CPMA-06. Develop a cost management plan.

One subsidiary plan is the cost management plan.  In this competency, the participants will be asked on what to do when SV=0.95, 0.90. 0.85, 0.80, 1.05, 1.10, 1.15; and when CV=0.95, 0.90. 0.85, 0.80, 1.05, 1.10, 1.15.  The idea is to help the candidate properly control the project by identifying actions to prevent project failure.  Also at this competency, the project payment schedule will be explained.


CPMA-07. Create project monitoring charts.

Create triple S-curve (PV%, EV%, AC%) for project monitoring and control.


CPMA-08. Develop and motivate the project team.

Under the competency, the various leadership will be discussed (i.e. Behavioral, situational, Great Man/Trait, Transactional/Management Theory, Participative theory, Power Theory, relationship and information-power theory.)  The Tuckman Stages of Team Formation (and how it is related to the leadership style of the project manager) shall also be discussed, including the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs. 


CPMA-09. Understand the PMI Code of Ethics.

Read the PMI Code of Ethics and understand the purpose of it.  Understand what are the mandatory and aspirational contexts of responsibility, respect, honesty and fairness.  Also the participants will read the Nievgen Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and will commit themselves to it.  The purpose of the competency is to ensure an ethical, discipline and responsible certified workforce for the organizations.


CPMA-10. Use GanttProject in scheduling.

The participants must follow the facilitator in demonstrating the use of GanttProject software for project scheduling. Participants will learn how to setup the project file, list the activities, state the predecessors, indicate the duration, create control accounts, assign estimated costs in the accounts, track the percent completion and visualizing the critical path of the project.  There will also be a discussion on how to determine (manually) the critical path using the project resource diagram.


CPMA-11. Manage stakeholders.

The participants will be taught of how to properly engage stakeholders in a project.  The participants will also be asked to create stakeholder register and assess the stakeholders based on influence, interest and behaviors.  RACI chart will also be filled up to ensure that stakeholders know their roles in the project.


CPMA-12. Pass the CPMA final examination.

The participants will answer a 100 item multiple choice examination (on-line, take home) and will answer a written essay interview to assess both their retention of knowledge and to clear the gaps in knowledge (as they need to review again should they cannot provide the right answers).  The purpose of the CPMA final examination is to reinforce the candidates' knowledge and skills by answering the questions in the exam.
