The Certified Data Science Associate course aims to provide the participants a strong foundational descriptive, predictive and prescriptive knowledge and practice the various data science tools for classification, regression, association, correlation, anomaly detection and forecasting business and other data.  Activities include software based data extraction, transformation, loading (ETL), visualization, modelling, training and reapplication of the model for another data set, including determination of the applicability and accuracy of the models.

1. Online classes are delivered via ZOOM. Please install zoom.

Install the software that will be used in the class as will be advised by the instructor on Day 01.

2. A laptop or desktop computer is required in the class.

3. For best training experience, you should have an extra viewing/extension monitor that you can connect and be placed adjacent to your laptop.

4. The participants must be computer-literate and must be able to use MS Excel.

5. All classes are recorded for learning, assessment and certification purposes.  In joining the class, you agree to be recorded by the Nievgen instructor.

6. The candidate shall TURN ON the CAMERA at all times.



Nievgen has the right to reject course enrollments if it sees that the enrollment of an individual or of a company is invalid, detrimental and against to the overall interests and internal policies of the company, i.e. intellectual property infringement, the knowledge acquired from the company shall be used to start another training company, knowledge/skill will be used for illegal acts or when the enrollee individual/ company is a competitor or potentially will become a competitor or when the enrollee is deemed unqualified to take the course due to prerequisite or due to professional decisions of the enrollment assessors and/or the enrollee showed unprofessional behaviors.  All enrollments to Nievgen undergoes audit prior the start of the class and requires the APPROVAL of the company, similar to other knowledge and competency centers. Immediate refund will be made to individuals or entities who paid during registration, but is declared as ineligible for enrollment.


The certification is awarded to the successful participants after successful training and assessments, but the certification remains a property of the Nievgen.  The certification shall and may be revoked if the participant failed to demonstrate decent or professional behaviors, as according to the Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics of Nievgen, after a complaint has been issued and and an investigation is completed by Nievgen.  Nievgen deserves the full right to revoke the certification after due consideration of facts.


A certification awarded by Nievgen, thru our competent trainors and assessors, means that you have completed the training and has been assessed to be COMPETENT in the required competencies of learning, as required by NIEVGEN. Certifications are supported by evidences of learning and skills, that are fully documented during training and after training.

Understand how data science operations work and are integrated from user interfaces, databases, cloud to other data warehouses then to data processing softwares and finally being converted into visualization, insights, forecasts and reports.

CDSA-02. Understand data science applications.

Understand and perform classification, regression, clustering, association, correlation, anomaly detection and forecasting.  Understand how data science is being used in business research such as churn analysis, market basket analysis, lift chart analysis, direct marketing, credit risk modelling, fraud detection, outlier detection, operationalization, clustering and web analytics.

CDSA-03. Perform descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analysis.

Using basic sample sets, the facilitator will demonstrate descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analysis.

CDSA-04. Perform comparative analysis.

Perform One Sample t, One Sample Z, Paired t, 2 Sample t, One Way Anova for comparative analysis.  Interpret result and compare performances.

CDSA-05. Use data science software in analysis.

The participants shall use a data science software that will be used all throughout the course. The competency requires the participants to perform some introductory tasks to get used to the interfaces, functions, modelling and running the models in the software.

CDSA-06. Extract, store, transform and load data.

The participants will learn how to import data, read data, duplicate data, edit, transform and modify data in the data science software.

CDSA-07. Perform data cleansing, merging and pivoting.

The participants will learn appreciate the importance of data cleansing and preparation.  The participant shall perform cleanup of data (cleansing, scrubbing), identify missing values, find and replace data, merge data and perform more transformation of data.

CDSA-08. Use data science software for visualization.

The participants shall use the data science software to create graphs and interpret visual charts.

CDSA-09. Perform data clustering.

The participants will analyze cases whose insights and solutions can be solved via data clustering, or grouping a set of data under a group or subgroup.

CDSA-10. Perform decision tree analysis.

The participants shall use the data science software to create decision trees to describe the stories and likelihood of a certain option for a decision requirement.

CDSA-11. Perform Neural Network modeling.

The participants shall use training data for neural network function and shall generate forecasts based on the applied neural network modelling.  The accuracy will then be check using a validation data and determination of mean absolute percentage error.

CDSA-12. Perform Deep Learning modeling.

The participants shall use training data for deep learning function and shall generate forecasts based on the applied neural network modelling.  The accuracy will then be check using a validation data and determination of mean absolute percentage error.

CDSA-13. Perform general linear modeling (GLM).

Perform simple linear regression to multiple variable regression to determine relationships between predictors and a response.  Generate an empirical forecast model and determine the accuracy of the model based on absolute percentage error, spearman rho, correlation and squared correlation.

CDSA-14. Perform scoring, model testing and selection.

Compare results of different models, compare and select best fit model for the data case.

CDSA-15. Perform basic optimization techniques.

Understand optimization and perform optimization by setting objective, selecting whether to maximize, minimize or set a value by changing variable and subjecting to constraints.  Calculate via simple GRG linear, evolutionary and simplex linear optimization.

CDSA-16. Apply data science in a capstone case study.

Use the data science knowledge and skills on a capstone case study.  Provide insights, forecasts and solutions.

Nievgen (company and employees) collects and keeps minimum personal information from enrollees for the purposes of class administration, lecture/training recording, performance review/assessment, certificate dissemination, distribution and delivery to residences or offices. Our classes are recorded and trainees' activities and data are also recorded.  Class pictures, as evidences of the training workshop are collected and posted also on our social media sites and websites.
